Virgil Green’s football career nearly ended before it ever got started. During Green’s early years in high school, he had a huge growth spurt that lead to pain in his knee, and unbeknownst to him it was a precursor to an injury that would derail his freshman year at Nevada. The injury would test his determination to reach the next level.
Agony and frustration were only a myriad of things Zach Sudfeld felt on Sept. 10, 2011. He lay flat on his stomach in Autzen Stadium with his toes facing 180 degrees in the opposite direction. He had to be carted off by the paramedics in front of 35 devastated family members.
